Electroneurodiagnostic Technologist

Career Description

Electroneurodiagnostic technologists operate electroencephalograph (EEG) machines to record
electrical brain activity and diagnose brain disorders, such as stroke and tumors. These technologists
obtain complete patient histories before procedures, affix electrodes in the appropriate positions on
the patient’s head and monitor instrumentational feedback. Originally referred to as EEG technologists,
electroneurodiagnostic technologists perform many types of complex testing.

Academic Requirements

Depending on the employer, on-the-job training may be sufficient for most technologist positions. Often, combined with previous hospital experience, on-the-job training is appropriate. Some facilities require electroneurodiagnostic technologists to pass a community college or hospital based formal training program.
